Shop Tall Cake Boxes
Pick your size and pack below. Every tall box here is square, white and comes with its own lid.
Filter by size (8″ / 10″ / 12″) and by pack (5 / 10 / 25 / 50 / 100). All three are windowless, for a clean look that shows nothing but the box.
What Height Tall Cake Box Do I Need?
Getting the height right is the whole point. Too short and the lid squashes your topper. Too tall and the cake slides about on the drive.
Box size (W × D × H) | Best for |
8 × 8 × 8 in | tall single-tier cakes, small toppers |
10 × 10 × 10 in | drip cakes, taller decorated cakes |
12 × 12 × 12 in | two-tier cakes, sugar flowers, tall showstoppers |
One easy rule. Measure your cake from the board to the very top decoration, then add 1 to 2 inches of headroom, and match that to the box height.
These boxes are square, so width counts too. Pick a box roughly 1–2 inches wider than your cake board. Our 12 inch is the tallest we stock — got something bigger than that? Give us a call and we’ll sort it.
How Our Tall Boxes Load (Top-Loading Explained)
People ask how you get a heavy cake into a tall box without wrecking it. Fair question, and it trips up a lot of home bakers.
Two styles exist. A top-loading box takes the cake in from the top. A drop-side box has one side that folds down, so you slide the cake in flat instead.
Ours are top-loading, and the lid lifts fully off — so the whole top is open, not a narrow slot. Lower the cake straight down onto the base and keep it level. Set the base on your worktop first, then bring the cake to it, not the other way round.
Can I Make a Standard Box Taller? (Extenders)
Some bakers try to stretch a standard box with corner extenders or wrap-around rings. They can do a job in a pinch.
For a cake you make often, a proper tall cake box is sturdier and quicker. There’s no stacking loose bits together that can shift in the car. We don’t sell extenders on their own, so if height is a regular thing for you, one of our 8 to 12 inch tall boxes is the safer bet.
Strong, Food-Safe and Easy to Build
The bits bakers actually care about, kept short:
- Made from 100% food-safe white card, so it’s fine sitting right against the cake.
- Rigid and strong, built to hold a decorated cake steady on a bumpy road.
- Plain white and windowless — a clean, professional white tall cake box with nothing to distract from the cake inside.
- Flat-packed to save space. The base folds up in seconds on interlocking die-cut tabs, with no glue or tape.
- Separate lid, pre-glued, that folds into shape and sits flush on top. Tape it down for a long journey.
- Sits neatly on a cake board or cake drum when you want a firm base under a heavy cake.
Tall Cake Boxes for Weddings and Tiered Cakes
Getting a tiered cake to the venue in one piece is nerve-wracking. It’s often the priciest cake you’ll make all year, so the box matters as much as the bake.
For tiers, go a size up and give yourself headroom. A 12 inch tall box handles most two-tier cakes. Stand the cake on a sturdy cake drum first — the thick base stops it flexing when you lift the box. These make solid tall wedding cake boxes once you pair them with a drum, kept flat in the boot and never on a seat.

Frequently Asked Questions
What size box do I need for a tall cake?
Measure from the board to the top decoration, then add 1 to 2 inches. Match that number to the box height. We stock 8, 10 and 12 inch tall boxes.
What’s the difference between a top-load and a drop-side cake box?
A top-load box takes the cake in from the top. A drop-side box has a fold-down side so you slide the cake in flat. Ours are top-loading with a fully removable lid, so the whole top opens up.
Are tall cake boxes strong enough for tiered or wedding cakes?
Yes. They’re made from strong, food-safe white card and hold a decorated cake steady. For heavy tiers, stand the cake on a cake drum first for extra support.
Are your tall cake boxes food-safe and recyclable?
They are. The white card is 100% food-safe against the cake, and it’s recyclable — there’s no plastic window to peel off first.
Do you sell tall cake boxes in bulk? What’s the minimum order?
Yes. Packs go from 5 boxes up to 100, with a lower unit price on the bigger packs. There’s no large minimum — call us for trade pricing.
How fast is UK delivery?
